Meet the Owner

Hi! I’m Ray Blount.

Many massage therapists offer an endless menu of massage styles and techniques. My approach to therapeutic massage is highly personalized to each client’s physical needs.

I have committed myself to continual education in massage modalities, and as a result, I am able to use a variety of techniques in a single session with my clients.

Whether you’re recovering from a sports injury or just need a little bit of energy rejuvenation, I apply the right massage therapies to soothe your body, mind and soul.

My Approach to Massage

Physically close, socially distant

As a computer consultant in the digital age and a member of a consumer society, I have observed the closeness - the affinity - between people diminishing. Ironically, this ‘social distance’ is occurring even as people move physically closer in increasingly crowded spaces. Not so long ago, it was common to leave one’s doors unlocked at night, and now hardly anyone thinks twice about turning the latch as soon as they arrive home.

The ‘other’ digital divide

Individuals are embracing their online buying power. The idea of ‘click today, unwrap tomorrow,’ is no longer science fiction. With groceries and other necessities delivered directly to one’s door and the possibility of telecommuting as a rule, not the exception, one may go days or longer without being touched by another living soul.

A return to human closeness

These conditions are not healthy for a single individual for any length of time. Studies have shown that an infant’s sense of well being and acceptance is directly related to the kind and amount of touch it receives. This continues into adulthood and maturity. Increased tactile stimulation (i.e., touch) is directly related to an increased sense of wellbeing and feelings of acceptance in adults.

If I can make a difference in society, just one person at a time, wouldn’t that be something worth living for?

Sincerely,
